Well I will elaborate for game balancing...but I don't think that is entirely done yet, so possibly fruitless at this point. It is most definitely a bad thing for the computer to do though, guarantee win really after a certain point early in the game.

I think I have discovered a loophole strategy playing, but I don't want to say :)
Indeed he is. And I agree with his opinion regarding it fully. For the reasons he specified as well.
I would prefer if the game were less war, and more diplomacy and such anyhow, using brinkmanship and other tactics. Of course when push comes to shove and you have to, war is always viable in a way to enforce your demands or satiate your needs. I don't like unexplained wars, I prefer nice grudges or strategic ones in my games :)
You have to get the drengin game manager...not sure of the link myself. When you get that, you fill in your account information, connect, and then click 'show betas' and it will appear in the games section.
My memory of the OS/2 version is sketchy at best...been quite a while since I played it. For morale though, its quite easy to pull up your planets page, and skim down looking at the morale, which is shown quite obviously if i remember correctly.
Another option I would like to see incorporated, is the ability to bypass going through your planets when something is built. As it stands now, you can assign a governor, so all the planets have a building queue. But when each finishes something, you get alerted to it, and you have to go to that screen, hit ok, and continue on. When you start to get a large empire, and pump the social projects, this can get very very tedious :) Perhaps a button on the message you get alerting y
Near the end of the game, I traded a good planet of mine (class 25), for three decent ones from the torians (level 19). However, when I finished this trade, the Torians disappeared from the foreign affairs window, and I won the game. They were still on the main map with the planet I gave them however.
Also, when I am allied to two civilizations, and they decide to war eachother, perhaps I can mediate there?
Oh, also something else I have noticed. Usually about midgame for me, certain graphs have a tendency to 'break' or stop graphing....just showing a straight line at the bottom. Usually seen doing this is the tech graph, sometimes the manufacturing as well.
I just played 2-3 full games, one with a military win, one with a diplomatic victory, and I think I got tired for the last one :) 1. I would like to see some mechanism telling you what is going on in the universe, who is warring who, who declares on who, and so on. Perhaps some information on the wars as well (perhaps through espionage or some form). Often times, I don't realize what is going on until I start seeing civilizations disappearing from my foreign affairs screen.
A timeline that is accessible during and throughout the game, with statistics on various wars, (units lost/destroyed, systems captured/taken) would add a lot I feel.
Does seem to work.
uninstall through game manager, reinstall through game manager. Works like a charm every time.
All it shows me is how much of the alien income is from trade, and how much of that trade is with us....I assume there is going to be more to it than that.
I have noticed that in almost all games I have played, that without fail, all alien races but 1 or 2 die out in the beginning to mid stages of the game. This leaves me with only one or two diplomatic races to play around with. This occurs in every game, with all the races set to the same AI level, usually 'Smart'. Just in the case of interest, replayability, and general 'fun' level, I would hope to see that most races are able to stay around for a fairly lengthy time in the ga
Yea I mentioned that in another thread (sorrrrrry) Noticed it to.
For the various graphs, (military, tech, production, population) could we change the color of the human to one more....readily different. Many people have color issues, and the human and one other civ (forget which one) can sometimes be difficult to tell. Perhaps a different color for either the humans, or that one civ?
Go to details on an individual planet to pick the governor for the planet.
AI intelligence were all set at 'average'
I think it has to do with the trade? I notice weird fluctuations as well, I think due to the trade ships bringing in money sporadically perhaps...or not earning as much as the average at the particular moment... I usually keep a fair amount on hand to prevent the debt problems.
Went and replayed my game for a bit...spending picked up a tiny bit for 2/3 of the races, (up to 1-3 bc/turn) and then went back to zero...perhaps some midgame crisis? :)
all of a sudden all of the alien races spending went to 0bc/turn...all remaining races, same turn. I did not do anything particular at the time either...
Alright, I did find a problem however... I select "cultural trade" for the second time? Now once it is selected and I exit the menu, for some reason it goes back up to the top of the menu onto "hyperspace" and no research is done...
