I just wanted to pass along that Railroad Tycoon III is pretty darned good. They completely revamped the way supply and demand works, and it's actually sensible now. (For instance, passengers want to go to a particular city, not just away from where they are.) Owning industry in this game can now contribute a substantial amount to your bottom line, and you have to weigh the benefits of buying industry versus expanding your line quite carefully. The biggest problem I have with the g
Why do you want to get rid of your old games, anyway?
Well, I just figure I'd like to start anew. I haven't touched Galciv for a few months now, and many of my scores are old and incredibly low. (From many patches ago when scores were much less.) I figure, well, whatever empire I'm in should at least have the benefit of me providing a decent score... Also, I regret to say it but I will now leave the Fellowship as well. For a long time I stayed in to assist in

Thanks for the kind words, Theo and vincible. It's really something, the changes in the metaverse since I'd last been here. Cotal is absolutely on *fire*, Ray's semi-retired, and unless the rosters are really shaken up the Fellowship is assured first for some time. Looks like the Midwesterners are coming back to give GROOS some grief as well. ...and Staffa is on the verge of being tossed out of the top 25.

Best of luck to you with the GOTM, vincible. I feel quite ashamed for not being able to keep it up... but law school comes first, and every minute counts. The GOTM probably took about 10 hours a month to do, although most of that came from my crummy HTML skills. I'm happy to see that the empire still thrives. If I ever get my Galciv back from Pennsylvania I'd like to give it another go, perhaps with a new user name. Nice to see Cotal and Ray are jockeying for first. Coul

Eh. Real life calls me once again, and I'll be out of town and away from the internet until next Friday at the absolute earliest. (Though it could be as long as Aug. 21 or so...) So, Ray, if I was still under consideration for judging the ASA, I must withdraw. Similarly, I'm not going to be able to get up a GOTM anytime soon, nor the scores from last month. :( My apologies to all the participants. Good luck all. Be back in a while--hopefully the forums won't

...and it's 5:43 AM Eastern USA time. This is ridiculous. (:( Anyway, expect a new GOTM tomorrow, as well as scores from last month. Sadly, I think there will only be one GOTM for August given my horrible schedule.

A question: are we looking for best pieces of individual storytelling, or best pieces that advance the storyline, or what? If the former, I'll volunteer for the shortlist committee. I'm "clean," having never written for the forum. (Though I've wanted to, other timesinks have gotten in the way.)

Interesting. Personally, I'd love it if there were more different types of ships, with less huge quality differences between them. As it stands, getting Battleships early is a huge advantage, and being first to Dreadnoughts is fantastic. If there were more intermediary steps we might see less lopsided games
