I have a thought.. thouse of you who can submit and can't submit have you ever had AOL or other ISP client software (Like Earthlink's Total Access bundle, Netcom's Net Cruiser etc) installed on the machine you are playing. These software (or various versions of it) replaces the tcp/ip stack which may screw it up (not likely but hey its another data point. ANd i don't know the details of how galciv sends it up) It is concievable one of these replacement stacks alter data if its destined or origio

sorry if this had been repeated just don't have the time to read 245 posts.. But You can not break alliance with the I-Leagaue, they kept delcaring war and my economy was shot.. so the only way i could have broken the alliace was decalre war then make peace.. however this had the side effect of loosing all my trade routes which really knocked me into the hole. ANd I was winning too. sigh

No, Stars! Supernova Genesis is a differnt game then GalCiv, a similar galaxy layout, but thats the only thing the same. S!SG is like Stars! but with new features and way better graphics. (i'm hoping a publishur is found soon.. I would like to beable to put it on my resume, as i did a couple months of contract work on it a few years back) All i think i can say without violating my NDA. Besides the fact its a true sequel, alot like GalCIv is a true sequal to the OS/2 version. Me.. I wait

Not if you run the hotspot jvm.. with that all java byte code gets compiled to native machine code the secondtime its run.. so its slow at first but then gets faster.. but it still maybe 20% slower then optimized compiled C++. However threads in java isn't quite their yet so something like GC would take more of a performance hit then other games of this nature.. (take 2/3rds longer under java hotspot) However hotspot jvm wasn't avaible when gc went into production. The other problem with java is

the differences between the raves are fairly relavent, from starting diplomatic relationsm and likely hood of your populence wants to go to war with them, and they want to go to war with you. Are dependant on who you are and who they are. There are also vastly different desirablity of planets depoending on base race/species. Actually if you can ignore the lack of feedback "What actions of mine don't ypu like?" I think the diplomacy is better then Moo2 .. but I still don't think its better then G

I love it, but i know i'm in the very small minority that will. Mainly cause i have no life and can devote to the learning pit. It frustrates me that i am in the minority cause We need a good come back for 4x games after RFTS. Where the majority of people will think RFTS is a better game. Galciv will bring it back, but it will keep the Genre at the micromanagement level. I just don't like the Goveners in galciv.. they sound like they should be AI's and not just build queues...

raves and cheers is not all thats being posted at IG forums. I actually like it after i figured out that double earrows ment its exapndable panel. If the UI was done a little better (i could care less about graphics) they had better ingame documentation (or manual was up todate) and had Galciv's Diplomacy feel (the big descriptive narratives portion).. I can't coment on computer player AI yet as i haven't played it enough. And galciovs storyline scerios that pop up. Both are good games. I like e

yeah and the only way a slip can happen is if IG's warehouses or plant is destroyed.. but if that happens then GalCiv will slip too as IG is also the distributor of GalCiv. Quicksilver sat on the gold annoucement for sometime (possibly up to a week) IG is delaying the release for MOO3, cause they are releasing Unreal 2 next tuesday (This is my belief, i don't really know, but i'm 98% sure of it) Beit either they don't have warehouse space, or they don't want two of their products to com

i would not play on a console either.. but hey they were gonna give us money we needed to finish the game. ANd who knows it gcould have sold alot of copies (and maybe altered console gamers taste and made 4x more popular.. yeah right but i do dream)

Actually Brad thats not entireally true.. unfortnutaly an NDA prevents details (But it was 2 years ago, how long does an NDA last if your no longer employeed anyways? I knew i sould have bad a digital copy) but a certian publishur was looking at a certain 4X game and ask how hard it would be to make a port to their console. Personally i don't think it would sell but hey.. it was at least seriously thought about.
